UPDATED 4.04pm: Two Christchurch school were  “locked down” after a man was shot nearby today. In a release to media, police said officers  were called to a Hei Hei address following reports a man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. “A man left the address on foot and two nearby schools, St Bernadette’s School and Hornby High School, have been placed into lock down as a precaution. “Police believe all parties are known to each other and that this was an isolated incident.” There was no reason for the public to be concerned for their safety, but police were seeking a man who left the address. He was described as Maori or Pacific Islander, in his 20s and as wearing a red and blue checked shirt and jeans. “The public are advised not to approach this man but to call 111 if they see a man matching this description. Anyone with any information into this man's whereabouts is asked to also come forward.” Hei Hei is a suburb in the west of the city. There is a number of primary and secondary schools in and bordering the suburb.
